  Ulysses 2.0 Public Beta
Announcing Ulysses 2.0 Public Beta

Announcing Ulysses 2.0 Public Beta
Here we go again. New major Release. New Public Beta.
Welcome to our circus ;)

Ok, here's the most important, the Download links:
Ulysses 2.0 public beta
Ulysses core 2.0 public beta

Things to note when using this:
- It is beta - may crash, corrupt your data, burn your hard disk
(I hope it don't do any of these ;))
- There is still things missing
(esp. Themes, Preferences Import)
- Old Registration
(the new one will come with final release, use trail mode for now)

Please report any bugs / feature requests either in this forum, or in our bugtracker:
Mantis (Use the Ulysses 2.0 Public Beta project)

The versions here are stable, at least as far as I know. There should be only few bugs left, but we are not yet release candidate. New features might still be added though I doubt any big changes will still make it. We need to keep some things for a 2.1 or 3.0, you know :)

Please test the new Stuff in depth!
And thank you all for your support!

Max

PS: Here's a changelist I got using grep from our svn, so it is neither sorted nor pretty nor complete and contains only bigger new features, no fixes or smaller ones.

Re: Announcing Ulysses 2.0 Public Beta
  Max,

After I click the trial button I saw the welcome screen, then beta froze. When I forced quit than tried reopening it, I no longer see the welcome screen. I can see the menu bar (projects, documnents, edit ect...) but everything is grayed out. I cant make a new document or open anything.

I'm thinking the trial mode might conflict with my current trial of 1.6 Is it a probelm is I have both 1.6 and 2.0 trials on my computer?

I'm running 10.4.11 on a 2.0Ghz MacBook w./1GB RAM

Re: Announcing Ulysses 2.0 Public Beta
I did not use trial mode but just registered - went well. I tried bookmarks immediately - and have to say, I'm going to use this a lot, did not expect that it might be so useful. New notes not appearing at the bottom of the list is definitely an improvement.

Export went well, I did not experience any problems. The look is even better than before. But I did not discover how to view notes in console mode.

Many thanks!!

Hi smolk,

Are you using 10.4 or 10.5?

Re: Announcing Ulysses 2.0 Public Beta
  forgot to say: 10.5

(only recently and somewhat reluctantly, because there seemed to be syncing issues between a new laptop with 10.5 pre-installed and my desktop with 10.4, and also because DT's upgrade only works with 10.5 and I like to have several databases open, if need be).

Running the beta on both MacBook (the brick version) and a MacPro.

The new preferences window looks a lot cleaner, btw. But I understand that it is still a work in progress. Let the beta-testing begin!

Oh, I forgot to mention that ;)
Actually 10.4 support is work in progress. I am not yet completely sure whether we will master it, because we (especially I) have no test system with 10.4 around. And if I had one, the problem is still that the new Xcode doesn't run on it for debugging.

So we have to take it the long way. The best is you file a bug in the tracker and attach the console log after a application start to it. I will give it a look :)

Thanks for the info. If anyone out there manages to get it to work for 10.4 please let us know. I'm wondering if it's an OS issuse.

Max -

I also noticed that 2.0 is using my 1.6 trial authorization. I know this because when I saw the welcome screen, it displayed the amount of days left on my 1.6 trial. Could this be the cause of my problems?

Use the new "View" menu in the menu bar.

I tried that, but nothing appears. The option (which is black, not greyed out) does not get a tick as it would in the menubar of the standard mode.
